The family history detailed on this site is, I guess, typical of many. It contains the names and family stories of my ancestors. Not wealthy folk, connected to royalty or celebrities nor hopefully with too many skeletons in closets waiting to alarm the unprepared.
Rather it is the story of ordinary people who lived and worked in the English Midlands. Perhaps dreams of fame and fortune stimulated their migration from the Shire counties to Birmingham in the 19th century. More likely it was the desire to find work in the hustle and bustle of the workshops, factories and houses of the emerging city. They were the labourers, tradesmen, domestic servants and skilled artisans who helped make Birmingham the city that it is today.
